The one way to look at the Rolex dates!

July 6th, 2008 · No Comments

Rolex CYCLOP 101The Rolex watch is a high end Swiss timepiece, has most of its functions modified to provide the end user - the customer, as much comfort as possible.
One of the things that most people often gripe about with relation to the Rolex watch is that the date window is quite small. Since the date display unit was not viable to customers with myopia or any other degenerative vision conditions, Rolex has introduced its generic version of the Cyclops glass. The crystal is designed to increase magnification of the date window many times over, thus making it easier for all Rolex customers to access the date field.
The movements of the watch have fast evolved since the introduction of the minute hand by the English horologist Daniel Quare in 1691. Since then, watches have changed some of the most basic functions; have added a few new ones like the moon watch with the end result being that today, one can find almost anything on a watch, from a thermometer to that of a pressure gauge. As a result of our urge to have objects with greater functionality, the watches are being made to accommodate such needs. The Cyclops glass is a much needed addition to the movements of the Rolex as a whole as it compensated the tiny date window on the dial. As it is, watches today cannot display dates as large as they want as they are encumbered by the size of the dial piece and the need to accommodate the other functions of the watch. But with the Cyclops glass, Rolex has managed to do just that, display the date in a larger format while accommodating the movements of the watch.
