Valjoux 7750

History will show that this all time classic has been the main stay of the most functional and robust chronograph watch movements since its introduction on the 1st July 1974! Indeed, there are not many other variants that have ever come close? The ETA 2894-2 with 37 Jewels
Technical Data:

- Suitable for Breitling, Rolex Daytona, Omega Speedmaster & Seamaster, TAG Heuer Monaco, Panerai Radiomir & Luminor and various IWC

IWC Portugese

This is one of the more expensive watches that utilizes the versatile Valjoux 7750 based movement, especially in gold. With a highly modified Valjoux 7750 movement called the Calibre 79350, it is probably the highest quality movement in this range, but sadly does not have the COSC Certification. IWC rarely certifies their watches.

- Mechanical movement with automatic winding, rotor mounted on ball bearing, unidirectional winding, hack mechanism.

Functions

  • Hours , minutes , small seconds at “ 9 “.
  • chronograph ( 30 minute counter at “ 12 “ , 12-hour counter at “ 6 “ , central chronograph seconds ).

- Instant setting DAY / DATE Calendar at “ 3 “.

- Diameter : 30 mm, height 7.9 mm , 25 jewels.

- Bph : 28,800 beats per hour.

-Full power reserve

  • Long power reserve for 46 hours.

-Adjustment

  • Etachron.

Due to the huge popularity of this classic the parts supply both genuine and after market is extremely good. There are several online businesses that can supply a good selection of service components and interchangeable parts like date rings Valjoux 7750 Date Ringwhich are available in several different colours!

The movement was and still is considered to be difficult to work on, this in the main is due to the cost cutting exercise that was implement to mass produce the movement.

Parts of the ‘movement’ that are most commonly replaced, due to wear:

1. The Barrel.

2. The Rotor Bearing.

3. 3rd Wheel.

4. 4th Wheel.

5. The Minute & Hour Recording Wheel.

6. The Seconds Recording Wheel.

They never used real screws, part of these cost-cutting measures included replacing these with wedge connections. In addition, small individual bridges gave way to larger movement plates, under which other parts could be mounted and attached. There are several aids to the repair of the movement that are available, this includes its very own movement holder designed specifically for the Valjoux!
