The Rolex watch is a high end Swiss timepiece, has most of its functions modified to provide the end user - the customer, as much comfort as possible.
One of the things that most people often gripe about with relation to the Rolex watch is that the date window is quite small. Since the date display unit was not viable to customers with myopia or any other degenerative vision conditions, Rolex has introduced its generic version of the Cyclops glass. The crystal is designed to increase magnification of the date window many times over, thus making it easier for all Rolex customers to access the date field.
The movements of the watch have fast evolved since the introduction of the minute hand by the English horologist Daniel Quare in 1691. Since then, watches have changed some of the most basic functions; have added a few new ones like the moon watch with the end result being that today, one can find almost anything on a watch, from a thermometer to that of a pressure gauge. As a result of our urge to have objects with greater functionality, the watches are being made to accommodate such needs. The Cyclops glass is a much needed addition to the movements of the Rolex as a whole as it compensated the tiny date window on the dial. As it is, watches today cannot display dates as large as they want as they are encumbered by the size of the dial piece and the need to accommodate the other functions of the watch. But with the Cyclops glass, Rolex has managed to do just that, display the date in a larger format while accommodating the movements of the watch.
The one way to look at the Rolex dates!

Dial the time with the Ebel Gents White Dial
July 6th, 2008 · No Comments
The Ebel Gents White Dial is a unique dial that ensures greater visibility and captures time as well as the movements of the hands while they speed across the dial, marking out time for the day.
The antique watches of the yesteryear did not even have a proper dial piece as only the hour hand was used then with the dial piece totally unprotected. Since then, watches have evolved, so today, we have the Ebel Gents with its 26.5mm diameter and the time displayed as black roman numerals on a white background, which makes this watch all the more interesting.
The dials of the watch generally have a variety of shapes from the circular to that of the octagon. The shape of the dial is often changed more as a marketing ploy than for any other inherent purpose. Today, the watch movements come in shapes such as rectangular, rectangular with cut corners, oval, baguette and more, the point being that the shape of the dial or that of the movement no longer defines the watch. Modern technology has made it possible for the movements to be miniaturized to such an extent, that the dial pieces are no longer constrained by the movements of the watch thus giving way to various dial shapes that one can see today. Looking at dials, the Ebel Gents White Dial has a unique advantage over some of the other dial pieces as it offers a three position date window, thus making this dial a much more welcome option for many a businessman.

The Machine that Gives Watches ICU Treatment
May 9th, 2008 · No Comments
Perfected the needs of hobbyists, the basic Timegrapher model from TYMC, the MTG-500 boosts a set of simple control, superb functionality, and reliability. Getting one of these for your collection means that you stay clear of the intricate controls of the higher models, that for most matters, are not that useful for small scale collectors.
The Timegrapher is capable of calculating the beat number, the beat rate as well as the beat error. Unlike superior models, the MTG-500 is incapable of finding the amplitude of the balance wheel.
The machine is very easy to set up and operate. It comes with a readily adjustable microphone (the microphone is multi-position, rotatable), which due to its superior sensitivity can find the respective values of most watches. And how to go about doing that? Simple, just keep the watch over the microphone; the Timegrapher detects it automatically and starts calculating. The values are displayed on a modest monochrome backlight LCD display.
For a device meant for small collectors and shop owners, it makes sense to meet the power requirements. The MTG-500 can even work on batteries, as it is powered by simple direct current. The machine is light in size and is sized suitable, making it both mobile and handy.
For the standards of a basic model, the MTG-500 goes far in terms of accuracy by recording beat error to an accuracy of 0.1ms, while counting beat rate to an accuracy of 2 seconds/day. The result display is both graphic and numeric, and so provides a uncluttered one spot solution for watch handling in terms of factual information.
